Tea for Terrific Skin

You can get radiant skin from something as simple as tea! Yes, the drink you can enjoy hot or cold. There are many types of tea that are antioxidant-rich and anti-inflammatory. If you are consistent in drinking certain tea, your skin can really benefit from it, and it will be noticeable to the eye! It can help clear up acne and give you more radiant skin. We are going to share with you five different types of tea you can enjoy to help your skin.

1.Green Tea (Matcha)

This is a very common tea that people drink for many reasons, one of those being it is a very powerful acne fighter! It will help with swelling and redness of acne spots. The tea contains a catechin called Epigallocatechin Gallate (EGCG), which can help reduce inflammation, thus leading to the reduction of swelling and redness spots. It can also help prevent acne from forming. It has ingredients that help prevent clogged pores- every ance spot starts with a clogged pore.

Note: Matcha is much more powerful than green tea, but they both contain caffeine. So, if you are sensitive to caffeine you might want to drink caffeine-free herbal teas. On the other hand, this is a healthier replacement for coffee.

2.Spearmint

Spearmint tea can be beneficial for acne, and oily skin. This tea can have a powerful anti-androgen effect and when androgen and testosterone levels are lowered the skin will not produce as much or even no acne. Higher testosterone levels can increase the productivity of the oil gland. The tea helps reduce these levels, therefore clearing up your skin and balancing the oil production. In order for this tea to be effective, it is important to drink it every day for a period of at least 2 weeks.

3.Red Raspberry Leaf

Many times your skin breaks out due to a hormone imbalance, Red Raspberry leaf is a fantastic herb to aid in hormone balance. We all know how hormones can affect us! This tea helps regulate your hormones by increasing your progesterone levels (an especially crucial hormone for women). It also helps your pores stay clear, as it reduces the androgen of dihydrotestosterone. As we mentioned before when androgen levels are lowered, the skin will not produce as much ance, or none at all. Red Raspberry leaf is very refreshing and helps regulate your hormones at the same time, give it a try!

4.Dandelion

Dandelion tea is full of vitamins that help regulate your hormones and support your liver function and digestion, which are all essential for healthy and clear skin. It contains calcium, magnesium, iron, zinc, vitamins B and C. The cool thing about dandelion is tea isn’t the only way it can be absorbed, many people try dandelion greens in their salad! Vitamins are important in supporting healthy skin, dandelion provides some, but make sure you are getting all the essential vitamins for excellent skin health!

5.Chamomile

This tea helps promote healthy sleep, and a good night of sleep is great for your skin! A good sleep habit will promote clear skin and help reduce dark circles under your eyes.  This tea can be enjoyed before bedtime steeped in water or even warm milk with added honey for a nighttime treat.
